Welcome to the Monart Art School of Ottawa

Our studio is a licensed Monart Drawing School - a place where anyone can learn to draw and discover new ways to express his or her creative fire! We offer classes for both children and adults - whether you are 5 or 95, come and join us!

Just as learning musical notes is fundamental to playing an instrument or practicing ballet positions is basic to a dancer, learning to draw is a foundation for all of the visual arts and a true life-skill that can foster an appreciation for the natural world, stimulate a creative spirit, and even enrich a career. Find out more about the Monart method and the Monart Art School of Ottawa on this website, and make sure to check back regularly to see what's new!

The first and second workshops were tremendous successes! Curious? Have a look at photos in both the Old Masters Copywork in Oil and the Figure Painting online albums to see the outstanding results!

Want in on the fun? The third workshop, Colour Theory and Portraiture (June 22-26, 2009) is quickly approaching. For more information on this upcoming workshop, registration details, and other exciting course offerings in the 2009 series, please visit the fine art workshops section of this site.

Supplies for Oil Painting Students

Many of our students who have been at the school for a number of years are now ready to begin painting in oils. Oil painting supplies are significantly more expensive than the media that we normally use at the school. Also, the more permanent and personal nature of oils means that each student should have their own “kit” which they can maintain ( clean ) themselves and bring to class for their own use. A list of required supplies is posted in the class supplies section of the site.
