2008 Children's Art Summer Camps

About Monart Summer Camps

Designed around educational, creative and fun themes, morning and all day camps will run for four weekly sessions from July 7 through to August 1, 2008.

  • Monday to Friday mornings: 9am-12pm, or all day 9am-4pm.
  • Weekly tuition includes all art materials.
  • High quality craft projects are created for each exciting weekly theme.
  • Two camps to choose from: 5 to 7 yrs old and 8 to 12 yrs old.
  • Camps limited to 12 students, plenty of individual attention.
  • All levels of ability are welcome!

Registration Details

Tuition:

  • Weekly tuition for morning session: $145.00
  • Weekly tuition for all day session: $310.00
  • Early drop off and late pickup are available at an additional cost.
  • Every student must supply their own morning and afternoon snacks and a proper lunch. We are a Peanut Free School.

All Monart School of Ottawa Art Summer Camps will take place at the Ottawa Montessori School, 335 Lindsay Street, Ottawa Ontario K1G 0L6

How To Register

  1. Download, read and complete the registration form; Include alternative choices, as camps are limited to 12 campers and fill up quickly! Space will be filled according to date registration provided that tuition is received in full. We cannot hold space without payment.
  2. Tuition is refundable with written notification by the following dates: June 10 - 100% and June 24 - 50%. No refunds after July 1st, 2008.
  3. Please ensure that your child demonstrates readiness to participate in the summer art camps. Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
  4. Bring your child's completed registration form and full tuition payment to the Monart Art School of Ottawa, Towngate Shopping Center, 2446 Bank Street, Suite 203, Ottawa, Ontario K1V 1A4. Please make all cheques payable to the Monart Art School of Ottawa.

Camp Schedule

Ages 5 to 7 yrs old

These camps are loosely themed for our younger students and are a great way for your child to spend a summer week. Each day we'll be creating a variety of projects geared for young beginning artists and teaching the basics of drawing and painting as well as creating great craft projects. Projects change weekly so you can enroll your child in as many camps as you like. All levels of ability are welcome.

Fantasy Adventure

July 7 - 11 2008

If you like castles and dragons, wizards, gnomes and fairies, then this camp is definitely for you! Our creations will be based on the fantasy creatures on which legends and myths are made.

Happy Feet

July 14-18, 2008

Tune up the vocal chords and warm up those dancing feet because this week we set sail for the South Pole to discover the home of Mumble, Gloria and their amigos! Through art we’ll learn about the permanently frozen continent of Antarctica, and discover that even the coldest place on Earth is full of life. Come and meet Emperor penguins during their long trek inland. Whales, seals, snow, glaciers and majestic blue icebergs provide creative inspiration on our exciting journey to the southern tip of our planet!

Explorers

July 21-25, 2008

Would you like to go on an exciting adventure to find lost treasure, discover uncharted territory and unlock the mysteries of the world? Then follow your compass straight to this camp! Through art we’ll explore natural wonders, new creatures and fascinating civilizations. During our expedition we’ll also learn about an explorer’s survival skills and tools of the trade.

Plasti-Scene

July 28-August 1, 2008

A young sculptor’s dream! This week we’ll bring the stories and characters from our imagination to life using the versatile, colourful and fun medium of plasticine. Create and illustrate your very own ‘plasti-scenes’ in 2-dimensional story pages and 3-dimensional worlds!

Ages 8 to 12 yrs old

These camps are designed for the older artist who will be encouraged to expand their creativity and explore each theme in depth. We'll teach drawing and painting techniques, working with a variety of media, including graphite, pastel, watercolour, coloured pencil and more! An interesting and quality craft project will be done in each camp. Projects change weekly so you can enroll your child in as many camps as you like. All levels of ability are welcome.

Paper Magic

July 7 - 11 2008

Did you know that paper, even the kind you put in your recycling box, has tremendous creative potential? This week we’ll discover the astonishing possibilities of an ancient material that we often take for granted in our computer age. Come and create your own greeting cards, design pulp moulds and engineer vegetable bank and trinket boxes - all from paper!

North Pole

July 14 - 18 2008

Land of Aurora Borealis, home of the Inuit people and the great Polar Bear, soaring mountains and unique plant life, the diversity of the Arctic has much to offer the young artist for inspiration. Join us for drawing and painting as we learn about this beautiful region and its many inhabitants .

Ancient Civilizations

July 21 - 25 2008

Step into our time machine and join us as we travel back hundreds (even thousands!) of years to discover the ancient civilizations of China, Egypt, Greece, Mexico and Japan. This week we’ll discover how art has played an important role in human society since the dawn of ancient culture around the world! Inspired by the unique perspective and creative innovations of early civilizations, we’ll create our own masterpieces that look back in time.

Colours of Africa

July 28 - August 1, 2008

We’ll be inspired by this fascinating and beautiful land of animals, people and the diverse landscape where arts and crafts are part of everyday life, and everyone is an artist. We’ll paint floor clothes in traditional African patterns, watcolours of her people, and learn more about this fascinating continent.
