2010 Children's Art Summer Camps

About Monart Summer Camps

Designed around educational, creative and fun themes, morning and all day camps will run for four weekly sessions from July 5 through to July 30, 2010.

  • Monday to Friday mornings: 9am-12pm, or all day 9am-4pm.
  • Weekly tuition includes all art materials.
  • High quality craft projects are created for each exciting weekly theme.
  • Two camps to choose from: 5 to 7 yrs old and 8 to 12 yrs old.
  • Camps limited to 12 students, plenty of individual attention.
  • All levels of ability are welcome!

Registration Details

Tuition:

  • Weekly tuition for morning session: $152.25 (includes GST)
  • Weekly tuition for all day session: $325.50 (includes GST)
  • Early drop off and late pickup are available at an additional cost.
  • Every student must supply their own morning and afternoon snacks and a proper lunch. We are a Peanut Free School.

Camp Location:

All Monart School of Ottawa Art Summer Camps will take place at the Ottawa Montessori School, 335 Lindsay Street, Ottawa Ontario, K1G 0L6.

How To Register

  1. Download, read and complete the registration form; Include alternative choices, as camps are limited to 12 campers and fill up quickly! Space will be filled according to date registration provided that tuition is received in full. We cannot hold space without payment.
  2. Tuition is refundable with written notification by the following dates: June 11, 2010 - 100% and June 25, 2010 - 50%. No refunds after July 1st, 2010.
  3. Please ensure that your child demonstrates readiness to participate in the summer art camps. Disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
  4. Bring your child's completed registration form and full tuition payment to the Monart Art School of Ottawa, Suite B244, 2445 St. Laurent Blvd, Ottawa, Ontario, K1G 6C3. Please make all cheques payable to the Monart Art School of Ottawa.

Camp Schedule

Ages 5 to 7 yrs old

These camps are loosely themed for our younger students and are a great way for your child to spend a summer week. Each day we'll be creating a variety of projects geared for young beginning artists and teaching the basics of drawing and painting as well as creating great craft projects. Projects change weekly so you can enroll your child in as many camps as you like. All levels of ability are welcome.

Star Wars

July 5 - 9, 2010

Not very long from now, in a galaxy conveniently nearby...

Calling on all galactic artists to engage hyperdrive and set course for this exciting camp where we’ll encounter favourite characters and cool vehicles from the Star Wars feature films! Using the (creative) Force we’ll build our very own R2-D2, and make Star Wars character masks. Learn to draw Gonk power droids, Master Yoda, Jedi younglings - and more!

The Enchanted World of Disney

July 12-16, 2010

With a little fairy dust and lots of imagination, we’ll take a sensational tour of the best of Disney’s recent animated features. In our creations, we’ll buzz through A Bug’s Life, swim the seas of Finding Nemo, rev our engines for Cars, don our supersuits with The Incredibles, get scary in Monster’s Inc., and cook up some artistic inspiration with Remy from Ratatouille. Can you feel the magic?

Fantastic Flying Machines

July 19-23, 2010

Whether you love biplanes or rockets, this art camp will take you on an unforgettable flight through the realms of early and modern aviation. Creative projects touch upon the fascinating history of flight - from hot air balloons to helicopters - and beyond! Find out what the first pilots wore on their adventures in the sky, what’s inside a black box, and so much more!

Rad Reptiles, Awesome Amphibians!

July 26-30, 2010

Discover the spectacular, sometimes scaly, and always startling world of reptiles and amphibians!

Through drawing and craft we’ll explore many curious creatures including phenomenal flying dragons, colossal crocodiles, impressive iguanas, tremendous turtles, fabulous frogs - just to name a few! Life in cold blood is a hot topic in this art camp.

Ages 8 to 12 yrs old

These camps are designed for the older artist who will be encouraged to expand their creativity and explore each theme in depth. We'll teach drawing and painting techniques, working with a variety of media, including graphite, pastel, watercolour, coloured pencil and more! An interesting and quality craft project will be done in each camp. Projects change weekly so you can enroll your child in as many camps as you like. All levels of ability are welcome.

Droids, darths, and deep space! (Oh my!)

Hop aboard your starship and join us for a fun-filled week of Star Wars-inspired creative adventure. Imaginative art and craft projects will bring space vehicles and favourite characters to life, including R2-D2 - brilliant ship mechanic, computer expert, and the most famous R2 unit in the galaxy! Come and make a droidel, Star Wars “lucha libre” masks, and more

Manga Madness

July 12-16, 2010

Mad for manga comics? Are you an aspiring “mangaka” (manga artist)?

Join us for an electrifying week chock full of all things “manga”, a wildly popular comic art form that originates from Japan. Manga, or “whimsical pictures”, has a unique visual style. We’ll learn manga drawing techniques to create heroes, monsters, wizards and steely-eyed warriors from Japanese fantasy stories. Don’t miss this awesome opportunity to illustrate your own manga comics!

Note: We strongly recommend that campers registering for Manga Madness sign up for full days. Morning material is explored further during the afternoon. And subsequent days in turn build upon the previous days' material.

Adventures in Space

Ever gazed into a star-studded night sky and wished you could travel in space? Well, here’s your chance to go on a space odyssey this summer!

In this art camp we’ll investigate rockets and learn all about astronauts and their lifestyle in space. Land on the moon and travel to mysterious planets billlions of kilometers away from our home on Earth! 3 - 2- 1 - Blast off!

The Renaissance

The Renaissance occurred several centuries ago, but did you know it was an age exploding with experimentation, rad ideas, and creativity?

Relive this totally hip period in history through art and craft! Discover the establishment of an enduring legacy in painting, prose, music and science. We’ll explore brushes, pigments, the new trade, coins, spices, textiles, fashion trends, the early dreams of flight, and so much more! The Renaissance was the place to be!
